Network & communication solutions

Qnective Middle East is a company based in the Sultanate of Oman, specializing in terrestrial and maritime communication technologies. Founded as a subsidiary of Qnective AG, a Swiss company specializing in mobile encryption technologies and secure communications, Qnective Middle East plans and operates large-scale telecom networks and services around the world.

On the 9th February 2013, the Omani company Al-Madakhel Investment LLC was granted a Class One license by Royal Decree No. 9/2013 issued by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. The license specifies the requirement to establish and operate a Maritime General Telecommunications Services System for a term of 15 years around the entire coastline of Oman. Al-Madakhel has chosen Qnective Middle East as its subcontractor to build and operate this prestigious new network.

Al-Madakhel and Qnective Middle East are building a maritime communications network that will provide the obligatory shore-based terrestrial and celestial Global Maritime Distress & Safety System (GMDSS). The new network will offer complete communications coverage over all the different sea areas around Oman, both near to and far from shore. This includes an upgrade of the existing NAVTEX broadcasting system of Maritime Safety Information. As a value added service, an Automatic Identification of Ships (AIS System) shall be introduced with the new network.
